Went to Johnson County, Missouri 1839, but returned to Virginia in 1840. Went to Gallia County, Ohio in 1845 and engaged in farming until 1865 when he came to Clay County, Illinois. He owned 100 acres of land and lived in Section 31. He was a Deacon of the Christian Church, operated a hotel called “Bluebell Hotel”
