Jane. I believe Jane was the next child. As you know, (Connections, Jul-Sep '93) she married Capt. Wm. Browne, Jr., the son of her stepfather, and lived out her life in Surry Co. [P2]. She was generously remembered in her stepfather and fil's 1705 will [P2]. It is significant that her name and Wm. Browne, Jr.'s did not appear on the court record appointing her older siblings, NiII and Elizabeth, and Elizabeth's husband, Francis Clements, as the administrators of Jane's brother William's estate in 1695 (NHM, p.41-verified). Brother Francis was in Essex Co. then; Thomas likely under age. Jane, living in the same household as her brother, William, probably was also under age 21, or born after 1773 (1774+), and not yet married [P5]. [Note: I'm unsure what age to use; she could act as an executor at age 12, release guardian at age 18; or take legal action at age 21 (The Source). She may be younger than Thomas.]

According to his deposition in Surry County records, William Browne was 24 years old in 1695. He married Jane Meriwether, daughter of Nicholas Meriwether and Elizabeth, his wife. Elizabeth Meriwether was the second wife of Lt. Col William Browne making Jane, his wife, also his stepsister. He was justice of Surry County Court, September 15, 1693, and was named first on the commission of the Governor, December 20, 1710. He was vestryman of southwark Parish in 1719.
His will is dated July 3, 1746 and was presented in court by Henry Browne and proved by the witnesses: Patrick Adams, Richard Cocke, and Petter Warren, January 19, 1747. He appointed his guardian, Henry Browne, his executor. (William and Mary Quarterly)
The will was recorded on 19 Jan, 1747. It mentions grandsons: Henry and William Browne (the latter not 18) Philip, William and John Eldoe; Henry Edloe, dec'd. Granddaughters" Jane, Rebecca and Mary Edloe; Ann Browne, daughter of Henry; Ann Browne, daughter of William; Rebecca, Elizabeth and Martha Browne; Lucy Gray, daughter of William; Mary Eaton. Daughter - in - law: Mary Browne. Great-grandsons: Henry Cocke, son of Leumel. Mentions: land where his grandson, Henry Browne’s father lived, land in Isle of Wight and Brunswick Counties.
“Capt Wm Browne, s/o Lt-Col Wm Browne of “Four Mile Tree,” Surry county was born in 1671. He married Jane Meriwether, d/o Nicholas Meriwether; justice in 1693 and for many years later, becoming in 1710 presiding justice of Surry county. His will dated July 3, 1746 was proved in Surry, January 19, 1747.”
