“..son of Nicholas Meriwether, a native of wales, was a large landholder in Essex county; clerk of Essex county from 1692 to 1702; senior justice of Essex in 1711; and burgess for the county in 1705-1706. He married Mary Bathurst, daughter of Lancelot Bathurst, and died in 1712 or 1713.”
