Leo Edward Iffert, 91, of Noble, Illinois passed away at 6:50 p.m., Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Burgin Manor in Olney.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin with Reverend Father David Braun.  Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Wendelin.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin.  Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements.

Leo was born February 25, 1917 in Clay County, Illinois the son of Kilian and Rosa (Kuenstler) Iffert.  He married Mary Olivia Turner November 23, 1937.  He was a farmer.  Leo was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Clay County Electric Board for several years.
Leo is survived by his wife, Mary Iffert of Olney; daughter Barb (Fred) Kessler of Ingraham, daughter Pat (Bob) Staser of Noble, son Ray Iffert of Olney, daughter Connie (John) Zappitello of Ohio, daughter Rose (Tom) Grampp of Bloomington, son Don (Carolyn) Iffert of Ingraham, son Steve Iffert of Noble, daughter Shirley (Tim) Burkhart of Stanford, daughter Cheryl (Mike) Phillips of Noble, daughter Susan (Gary) Lindley of Newton; one sister, Sister Josephine Iffert of Donaldson, IN; fifty-one grandchildren, fifty-seven great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Wattles, 1 brother and 5 sisters.

In loving memory of Leo, memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Parish Center for Alzheimer's Association.
